Service Description

Grief Reigns Camp for Kids, ages 9 thru 16 allows adolescents to come together and share their hearts. We call them, "Grief Warriors" as they travel through their own personal grief journey together. We begin by passing the 'Talking Stick' as each member presents a photograph of their special person and shares with other Grief Warriors about what happened, how they feel, and where the Grief Journey ahead will take them. DAY ONE: THE TALKING STICK The Talking Stick will begin each daily Session with an opening prayer, asking The Holy Spirit to join us as we bring our pain into His Holy Presence for Divine Healing. We welcome the Holy Spirit to join us on our Grief Journey, to guide us, protect us, and deliver us all towards the inner healing we all geuinely seek. The Talking Stick gives each participant the freedom to speak from the heart, and share the pain inside in order for the inner healing to occur. The Talking Stick will be decorated with painted feathers, beads, and leather that represents the special person that brought us all together. These items will be removed from the Talking Stick later in the camp to decorate our Warrior Horses. DAY TWO: WARRIOR HORSES The Grief Warriors then begin the healing process using horses. We will enter The Sacred Stables, and each participant will be guided by The Holy Spirit towards their own Healing Horse. This is a powerful time as two kindred spirits come together and each receive unconditional love, acceptance, and understanding. Each participant now has their own horse to bring their pain as they share openly with their Warrior Horse. The Warrior Horse serves them as a safe harbor of love as they open their hearts freely. DAY THREE: THE CEREMONIAL CLEANSING This is a sacred ceremony as each participant uses grief symbols to paint their Warrior Horse. The symbols will have deep meaning to each participant such as the HAND Print, means, "I miss your touch" - Arrows painted down the legs means, "I know you are traveling with me in my memory" etc. The Painted Feathers, beads, and leather will be included to decorate their Warrior Horse as a reminder of the healing conversations shared. At the end of the day, each Warrior Horse will be bathed, and the cleansing ceremony takes place as we wash away the pain of our grief. We are reminded that we will always hold a place in our hearts for our special person, but we are now cleansed from any pain that grief leaves within us.
